Meet Our New Friend and Family Member! May 21, 2011

Over Easter,  our tribe gathered and we welcomed in a group of fabulous rescued bunnies (stuffed that is) from Goodwill.  Each of us was given the gift of choosing one bunny that we would adopt and take home with us.  The Sonoran Desert Faerie Dust Clan and the Muppet Gang are all pretty amiable and loved any of the bunnies that I decided to choose.

I usually choose by “feel” or “touch” which makes sense being a massage therapist and Reiki practitioner.  The bunny I chose as our newest family member and friend of faerie is Claire.  She has also informed me quietly that she is known as Mimsy as well.  I asked her if this was anything like  Lewis Carroll’s poem “Jabberwocky” :

” `Twas brillig, and the slithy toves

Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:

All mimsy were the borogoves,

And the mome raths outgrabe.”

She said that she had indeed met the frumious Bandersnatch.

All of us (Muppet Gang, Faerie Dust Clan and myself) all gasped that she had managed to survive such a meeting.  She told us that she would tell us the story later when we all got to know one another better.  All the faeries clapped their hands together in excited anticipation of a future story.

Well, we did really find out Claire Mimsy’s name until after we got her home.  We noticed that she had not been given a mouth so we promptly stitched one on for her so she could speak with us.  She said, “Thank you” but in a quiet and timid way.   Gabby, the chatterbox of the Faerie Clan, greeted her warmly, “If there is anything you need Claire, please let us know.”

So we would love to introduce our readers to the newest family member:  CLAIRE MIMSY … please welcome her warmly  into your hearts and homes.

    Lovely addition to the clan.

Next movie night, you might want to rent, The Last Mimzy . . . featuring a bunny named Mimzy:

    Oh, get this:

The Last Mimzy is a 2007 science fiction family film directed by Bob Shaye and loosely adapted from the acclaimed 1943 science fiction short story “Mimsy Were the Borogoves” by Lewis Padgett (the pseudonym of husband and wife team Henry Kuttner and C. L. Moore). The Last Mimzy centers on two children, Noah (Chris O’Neil) and Emma (Rhiannon Leigh Wryn) Wilder, who develop preternatural powers when they encounter a mysterious box containing strange devices, presumed to be toys.

The “toys” are mostly incomprehensible to Emma and Noah, except for what appears to be a stuffed rabbit named Mimzy. Sensing the strangeness of the devices, the children initially keep their discovery a secret from their parents.
