S.D.F.D.C. & The Muppet Gang Visit Local Community Food Bank

   As we prepare for Thanksgiving and all that we are grateful for in our lives, the Sonoran Faerie Dust Clan & their pals The Muppets had a supremely fabulous idea a couple of months ago.  They approached me and said, “Shannon, as part of our business and giving back to others, why don’t we start collecting for the local community food bank in Green Valley?”

  I took a couple of seconds to think about it and knew that this was a great idea.  We got on it right away and sent out notices to our massage and bodywork clients that we would be collecting for the food bank.  Over the past eight weeks, our wonderful and generous clients have donated 244 pounds of food, $110 dollars and 2 Turkeys (and a partridge in a pear tree … no, no … Animal … that’s a Christmas song … Sorry) …

  I am thankful for the little we can do for those around us and am grateful for the participation by all of my clients in this endeavor to assist in this effort.  We, the Faerie Clan & Muppet gang, made one last run over to the food bank this mornin’ deliverin’ turkey.  The Muppet Gang asked for a personal photo shoot with the hard working volunteers at the Green Valley Community Food Bank.  Many of the volunteers were quite pleased to pose with Kermie, Miss Piggy & Animal.  Miss Piggy was just grateful it was a turkey we were dropping off and not a ham.

  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with whomever you are spending time with and may the Faerie Clan and Muppet Gang wish you a Happy Thanksgiving as well!

                                                                                “We say release, and radiance, and roses”

                                                                                                 by Rainer Maria Rilke

  We say release, and radiance, and roses,
and echo upon everything that’s known;
and yet, behind the world our names enclose is
the nameless: our true archetype and home.

The sun seems male, and earth is like a woman,
the field is humble, and the forest proud;
but over everything we say, inhuman,
moves the forever-undetermined god.

We grow up; but the world remains a child.
Star and flower, in silence, watch us go.
And sometimes we appear to be the final
exam they must succeed on. And they do.

    At our Holiday Open Houses, we would ask for donations for the Food Bank. It always felt good to deliver boxes overflowing with food to fill their coffers. Happy Thanksgiving.

    BTW: Tell Miss Piggy that we’ll be having a Vegetarian Thanksgiving with all the trimmings . . . except the turkey and ham. 🙂

    Thanks Nancy … Miss Piggy was quite pleased with this tidbit of information. Kermie is also happy that no frogs legs will be served either.

  3. Wonderful holiday gesture. My son and his family distributed meals in a homeless shelter before coming to Thanksgiving dinner. He said it made Thanksgiving more real to his kids.

    That is so great Nancy. I appreciate when we are able to gift to other people in kindness and generosity. Makes life more full.
